Supporting the people and local communities of Bali, who have so warmly welcomed René and I, is dear to my heart. I’m so proud to team up with two of my preferred charities to help them raise money for their beautiful causes. Many of my clients live in Bali or have spent a considerable period of time here. Even if you haven’t and feel called to support these charities, we would be forever grateful.

Plastic Exchange empowers the Balinese people to prosper through a barter program that provides sustenance in exchange for collecting plastic waste.

Tabanan-native, Made Janur Yasa, came up with the concept of “Plastic for Rice” to help his village amidst the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. The barter program turned the problem of environmental pollution into an opportunity to use plastic waste as a currency for food. One ton of plastic was collected in only four days, feeding approximately 300 people.

The program rolled out with further success in Banjar Jangkahan and Banjar Penulisan, Batuaji Village, inspiring Made Janur to replicate the model in other villages to create a greater impact.

The Togetherness Project (Kebersamaan) was created to support the Balinese people to build a more sustainable and self-sufficient world using their own resources.

With over a million Balinese and Indonesians out of work, many people have no income, no savings and no support from the government. COVID has further contributed to a downward economic spiral. The Togetherness Project is supporting Balinese leaders, food makers, farmers, cooks, artisans, and more to create jobs, revive tradition, rebuild community, feed the most vulnerable and create economic stimulation beyond tourism.
